AJC aka Amaning, J-cut & Canoma

AJC aka Amaning, J-cut & Canoma [Renegade, Basswerk, Phunkfiction, Focus]

Q: What was your biggest influence musically when growing up?
AJC: We all had our different musical backgrounds from playing at school parties or having friends that already were dj's, we all collected records and that natrualy evloved to becoming a DJ. For both J-Cut & Canoma "LTJ Bukem" played a big role in their younger yrs both collecting a lot of his records.

Q: With so much negativity and criticism in the dance community with regards to drug use, money-hungry promoters, and the advent of superstar, jet-setting DJ culture, how do you remain positive and focused? What's the secret to longevity in this guess-who's-hot-today society?
AJC: We shit on money-hungry promoters and the who's-hot-today society.
We let our music talk for it's self. At the end It's all about the fun of it.

Q: Do you consider yourself a musician as well as a DJ and producer? Do you play any instruments? Have you received any formal instruction (musically or in the studio)??
AJC: We all don't see us as musicians in the classical scence, but we all have a musical background, from playing in a band or Piano lessons in school.

Q: If you could give an aspiring DJ/Artist your best advice, what would it be ?? What advice could you give to bedroom-studio "whiz" that can't find the BIG break yet??
AJC: Make good tunes & get to know the right people!

Q: Please explain your stance on the issue of internet downloading.
AJC: On the one hand it hurts the music industrie & the individual Artist's but without it, but helped the Drum & Bass Music and other electronic Genre's spread so far into the World.

Q: The future of electronic music, where do you see it going?
AJC: A lot of fuzions of different Genres mixed to new styles has evolved in the last 5 - 10 yrs as we have also seen in the Drum & Bass world with the "liquid Funk" style of D&B making it's own way since 2000. In future we rekon D&B will become more complex and the different styles will make an even bigger statement in the electronic scene.

Q: What do you make of MP3 DJ's and the other alternatives to vinyl?
AJC: Very helpfull because we can play unreleased stuff and don't want to spend loads of money on dubplates, we are going to get the new Stanton Final Scratch next year... on the other hand it makes it harder for Vinyl to exsist.

Q: What is the single most important piece of equipment that you use? Explain why?
AJC: All our units are essential to us...

Q: Interests outside of music?
AJC: Girls, Football, Films, Cooking!!

Q: What's in the future? how can we keep up with what's happening with AJC.
AJC: We've got a couple of things coming out in England aswell as Germany, we will be on a small Tour through Europe as from end of February u can check our webpage for dates - www.ajc.drumandbass.de
